Amstel Lager® was first brewed in Amsterdam in 1870, getting its name from the river that runs through the city. Since then Amstel® has won countless awards and is now available in over 75 countries around the world. And in 1965 Amstel Lager® became South Africa’s first international premium beer. It defined the premium beer category and in 2011 it’s still doing it.
