Serame Taukobong has a long history of working in South Africa and the greater African continent with a variety of multinationals. Serame is currently employed by global superpower, General Electric, as the VP Commercial Africa. Previous to this, Serame has walked a celebrated business path with MTN, M-Net, SAB and Unilever.
During his 12 years at MTN, Serame has held numerous leadership roles within the company including being CEO of MTN Ghana, CMO of MTN South Africa and COO of MTN Uganda. Serame joined MTN from M-Net where he had served as the Marketing Director. Serame had started his marketing career with Unilever as a Brand Manager before moving to South African Breweries. Over a 5-year career with SAB he was involved in the strategic brand management of over 8 brands. His successes with SAB include the relaunch of Hansa Pilsner, the launching of AFB's (alcoholic flavoured beverages) and the repositioning of Castle Lager. While at MTN in 2011, he was voted Sunday Times Marketer of the Year after being the brains behind the famous Ayoba campaign, which won numerous awards in South Africa and globally.
Serame will be serving as the chairperson of the Sport Industry Awards judging panel. This is his second stint on the Judging Panel having served in the same role in 2017.
