During March 2018, the Official Shortlist for the Sport Industry Awards in association with Brand South Africa was announced, with 18 categories recognising the very best activations, agencies, campaigns, events, governing bodies, innovations, platforms, programmes, rights holders, sponsorships and more released.

The additional judges awards’ shortlists were released today – Sport Industry Personality of the Year and Leadership in Sport Business presented by Deloitte. These are the only two awards which do not form part of the normal Steering process.

An exciting feature of the Sport Industry Personality of the Year is that the winner will be selected by you, the industry, via ONLINE VOTING that has been established on the website and will also be distributed via social media and via a dedicated emailer.

Sgwili Gumede, chairman of Sport Industry Group commented: “These two awards are an indication of changing face of the Sport Industry Group which will continually strive to lead and develop the industry. We are excited about both the shortlists and look forward to even more entrants in future years. This year’s nominations are wide spread and include leaders and personalities from a broad array of interests – as rightholders, from the agencies and corporate world.”

The Official Shortlist was selected through an extensive Steering Process - involving more than 40 key industry figures across 8 days of intensive steering and review, and will now go forward for consideration by the main Judging Panel, who will decide the winners in each category.

The industry’s most anticipated night of the year will see major players from the world of sport, business and entertainment come together for an unforgettable night celebrating the standout work from across the sporting world on the 17th of August at the Sandton Convention Centre.
