Mayor Plato signs adidas jersey

Mayor Plato signs adidas jersey- 16 Dec 2009 00:00:00

Dan Plato, the Mayor of the City of Cape Town, added his support to the Unite Mzansi Unite campaign by putting his signature on the adidas giant jersey after the official handover of the Cape Town stadium to his office.

The Mayor’s signing follows closely on Western Province Premier Helen Zille who signed the jersey over a week ago and President Jacob Zuma’s signing when the truck was in Bloemfontein last month.

The Mayor was presented with a personalised Bafana Bafana jersey courtesy of adidas, as well as a yellow item called the UMU – which is given to all members of the public that sign.

Plato said after signing the jersey: ‘This is a great initiative and I’m proud to have added my signature here, now I look forward to wearing my new jersey with pride for Football Fridays starting this week.’

The adidas UMU truck still has the following stops to travel to while in Cape Town:

16 December - Mzoli’s Place in Gugulethu
17-20 December -Ratanga Junction, Theme Park
21-24 December - Vangate Mall
26 – 27 December - Muizenberg Beach
