SA Open Finals needs more seating

SA Open Finals needs more seating- 29 Jan 2010 00:00:00

The South African Open organisers have requested that more seating be placed in the Montecasino main court after it was announced that the final two days of the tournament are already sold out.

Ian Smith, the South African Tennis Association CEO, said that attempts are being made to expand the capacity by 3,000 at Montecasino’s main court, ‘We're negotiating with the construction company who erected the facility to see if it might be possible to add extra seating.’

The R3.75m South African Open, which is headed by 12th seed Gael Monfils, will see the tennis players battle it out for the prize of R600,000.

Smith added that apart from the two final sessions next Saturday and Sunday, a fair number of tickets were still available for the remaining five days.

However, at this year’s Open, there will be a new innovation which will see a single ticket grant spectators admission to both the day and night sessions.
