HP signs Davis Cup sponsorship- 3 Mar 2010 00:00:00
The International Tennis Federation has announced the addition of global technology firm HP to its portfolio of international sponsors for its flagship team competition the Davis Cup.
The four-year agreement, which sees HP become the official technology sponsor of Davis Cup, begins this week with the opening round of the 2010 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas.
A total of eight World Group ties and 26 Zone Group ties will be played on 5-7 March in 34 nations worldwide. One hundred and thirty-three nations have entered the 2010 competition and approximately 60 nations will host ties during the year.
HP becomes the latest company to join Davis Cup’s portfolio of international sponsors and partners, underlying the current commercial strength of the competition.
Title sponsor BNP Paribas is entering its tenth year of sponsorship and in 2010 is joined by six other worldwide sponsors and partners including HP.
In addition to on-court banners and on-site hospitality, HP’s expertise and products will be used to improve Davis Cup ties while the firm will also advise the ITF on new ways to develop its information technology systems and internet properties.
The ITF currently owns the largest tennis database, and its group of websites include the highly successful official Davis Cup websites, www.daviscup.com and www.daviscup.com/es.
