Dakar Rally to stay in South America- 24 Mar 2010 00:00:00

Argentina and Chile will continue to host the Dakar Rally for the third consecutive year in 2011, the organisers have announced after deciding against moving the race back to Africa.

After staging the event 29 times in Africa between 1979 and 2007, the flagship motorsport event was moved continents in 2008 because of security reasons.

The Rally will take place from 1st-16th January, 2011, with a start and finish in Buenos Aires.

The 2009 and 2010 editions of the Rally have both also been staged in Argentina and Chile.
