Castle Lite takes over Shootout event- 16 Apr 2010 00:00:00
After a seven-year association, South African Breweries has switched the title sponsor of its SuperSport Shootout charity golf tournament from Pilsner Urquell to its sister brand Castle Lite.
This year’s Castle Lite SuperSport Shootout is taking place from 23rd-25th April 2010 with the Simola Golf & Country Estate taking over from Pinnacle Point as the venue.
Simola was the first Jack Nicklaus Signature Designed Golf Course in South Africa and the venue also boasts a five-star hotel and clubhouse.
The tournament will also be screened live over the weekend on SuperSport.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Castle Lite’s executive brand manager, Jeanne-ette Boshoff said: ‘Castle Lite is proud to be associated with golf due to the sophisticated but social nature of the sport. It ties in with the brand’s fun and contemporary image.’
Participants include business leaders such as Public Investment Corporatio CEO, Brian Molefe; Tsogo Sun Group CEO, Jabu Mabuza; Tiger Brand Ltd CEO, Peter Matlare; RMBH Director, Paul Harris; Vodacom SA Chairman, Peter Moyo; Armscor Chairman, Popo Molefe; and Dimension Data Holdings Executive Chairman, Jeremy Ord.
Sporting legends taking part include Andre Joubert, Percy Montgomery, Chester Williams, Allan Donald, Shaun Pollock, Mark Fish, Neil Tovey and Shaun Bartlett.
The Castle Lite SuperSport Shootout has raised over R4 million rand since the inaugural event in 2004 and SAB’s chosen beneficiary for 2010 is again the SAB Caddies Educational Trust.
The Trust aims to give local golf caddies and their children the opportunity to apply for finance to further their education. Education fees for successful applicants are covered in full with an additional amount allocated to cover school tours, outings and uniforms.
SAB, SuperSport and ABSA are going to match, rand for rand, donations made to the Trust by participants during the event.
Castle Lite will additionally be allocating further funds to the Trust through a surprise Castle Lite Challenge at the 17th hole.
