IOC set to announce Dow deal

IOC set to announce Dow deal- 16 Jul 2010 00:00:00

US-based chemical company Dow is reportedly set to announce a multimillion-dollar sponsorship deal with the International Olympic Committee later today.

The deal with Dow is set to bring the IOC up to 10 companies in its top-tier sponsorship program for the London 2012 Olympics.

The IOC has also reportedly been negotiating with Procter & Gamble and BMW, as it tries to exceed the 11 sponsors it had in the last four-year cycle.

The IOC's global sponsorships usually cover at least four years and the deal with Dow is set to be worth a reported £64m.

Acer, Atos Origin, Coca-Cola, GE, McDonald’s, Omega, Panasonic, Samsung and Visa are IOC’s existing sponsors.

The Panasonic and Samsung deals run through 2016, while Coke and Omega are signed up through 2020.

The IOC already has secured close to £580m in sponsorship revenue for the current four-year cycle, but is looking to break the £650m ($1bn) barrier.
