ANC unaware of new boxing chairman- 19 Jul 2010 00:00:00

ANC MP and chairman of the National Assembly's sport and recreation committee, Butana Komphela has admitted that he is not aware Ngconde Balfour was set to be appointed chairman of Boxing SA (BSA) by Minister of Sport Makhenkesi Stofile.

‘We are going to check with the director-general at our meeting on Tuesday. We don't want to chase rumours. Our approach is, what happened to (BSA chairman Peter Ngatane)?’ said Komphela.

Balfour is the former high commissioner to Botswana and Stofile has reportedly been looking to strengthen the BSA by adding five new members and installing Balfour as chairman.

Balfour recently resigned as high commissioner to Botswana and he previously served as minister of sport.
