mali set to leave ASA board- 30 Jul 2010 00:00:00

Ray Mali has declared that he will not lead Athletics South Africa (ASA) beyond September.

Mali is currently the chairman of the ASA interim board set up whilst the South African Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee investigates the old regime led by Leonard Chuene.

‘I will be leaving this office at the end of September, by then we should be having a new board running athletics,’ said Mali.

‘I want to state for the record that I have no intention of leading ASA. The same applies to Athletics Transkei or any other sport on a full-time basis.’

‘My two-year term of office at Cricket South Africa (as president) is coming to an end at the end of August. I'm 72 and and will be retiring from active sport administration.’
