The KwaZulu-Natal government has been praised for sticking to a tight budget during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

KwaZulu-Natal seized the marketing opportunities that came with the tournament, according to the Premier Zweli Mkhize.

The province created a campaign called: 'KZN - taking SA forward' and hosted several initiatives that showcased the diverse cultures of KwaZulu-Natal.

Mkhize was also impressed with the turnout at FanFests with a total attendance figure at over 400,000.

'It was a joint effort by the various sectors of our community, and we want to thank each and every person who contributed in the hosting of our guests, including the media fraternity,' said Mkhize.
