Botha becomes boxing promoter

Botha becomes boxing promoter- 3 Aug 2010 00:00:00

South African boxer Francois Botha has turned his attention to become a boxing promoter.

Botha has entered a partnership with Anton van Aswegen and their boxing company is called White Buffalo Promotions.

However, Botha has insisted that he still wants to fight and that a supposed South African Boxing rule will not put him off.

The speculated rule states that a certain clause in the Boxing South Africa Act of 2001 did not allow an active boxer to either manage a boxer or be a promoter.

Botha revealed that negotiations with Evander Holyfield for a rematch of their fight earlier this year, which Botha lost, was at an advanced stage.
