PARLIAMENT BLASTS ASA & SASCOC

PARLIAMENT BLASTS ASA & SASCOC- 12 Aug 2010 00:00:00

The Parliament sports committee has delivered a scathing attack on Athletics South Africa and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee.

ASA's interim board was asked to provide a report on the Caster Semenya saga and how that incident led to the suspension of former ASA head, Leonard Chuene and his entire board.

When the ASA couldn’t provide answers the committee blasted SASCOC for throwing ASA interim head Ray Mali ‘into the lion’s den’.

SASCOC will now have to face another hearing – after being instructed to come with the relevant answers surrounding the ASA suspension.

Mali also said that the ASA owed more than R15m to creditors.
