CAR CHARGES DROPPED AGAINST CHUENE- 13 Aug 2010 00:00:00
The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee has dropped charges against Athletics SA leaders for allegedly buying cars for R2 each.
Suspended ASA president Leonard Chuene and two former staff members reportedly bought the three cars.
The SASCOC board did not pursue the matter after sports leader Dan Moyo said there was nothing wrong with the way the ASA disposed of the cars.
Moyo is the former general secretary of the National Olympic Committee of South Africa, SASCOC’s predecessor.
Moyo also called on the Olympic body to reinstate Chuene: ‘What SASCOC is doing to Leonard is so unfair. The sooner Leonard and his board are reinstated the better.’
