SAFA LAUNCHES STOLEN KIT INVESTIGATION- 25 Aug 2010 00:00:00

The South African Football Association has reportedly launched an investigation into the disappearance of thousands of rands worth of FIFA refereeing kit and other equipment.

The unknown whereabouts of the kit was announced by SAFA referees committee convenor Alpha Mchunu, who was attending the Semenya Commission investigating allegations of football corruption.

The alarms were first raised by Premier Soccer League assistant referee Luyanda Somi who said that a referee friend in Ghana told him Africa's match officials had been sent a new kit by FIFA.

The missing kit was set to be used by referees during the FIFA and CAF matches for the 2010/11 soccer season.
