BENIN TO HOST 2012 CHAMPIONSHIPS- 26 Aug 2010 00:00:00

Benin will host the 18th edition of the African athletics championships in June 2012.

The country’s athletics federation president, Theophile Montcho, announced the decision.



Montcho added that although the Charles de Gaulle stadium in Porto-Novo that is 30km east of the capital Cotonou - already has the infrastructure in place ready to host the championships, a definitive choice of venue has not yet been taken.

South Africa finished third in the medals table despite having placed at top of the table at every continental championships since 2002.
