SOUTH KOREAN GP WILL GO AHEAD- 31 Aug 2010 00:00:00

Organisers of the inaugural South Korean Formula 1 Grand Prix have reassured that the race will go ahead as planned in late October.

The operating organization of the race, Korea Auto Valley Operation (KAVO), said the circuit would be opened this weekend.

There had been speculation that the circuit might have not been built in time for the Grand Prix on 24th October.

Reports at the weekend had suggested that the 5.621-kilometre Korean International Circuit hadn’t yet received the tarmac it required – and the infrastructure of the venue had not yet been put in place.

But organizers were quick to allay such fears and insisted that the opening ceremony, that includes Indian driver Karun Chandhok racing a Red Bull around the track, will go ahead.
