The Sharks players have vowed to wear pink in their Currie Cup match against the Free State Cheetahs in support of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).
The match takes place on the 18th September at the Absa Stadium Durban and the Sharks are encouraging all supporters attending the match to wear pink in support of the charity.
As respected role models, the Sharks players will be urging all South Africans to lead healthy and balanced lifestyles whilst have regular screenings and take as many steps as possible towards cancer prevention.
CANSA celebrates women’s health in September and October and all funds raised at the match will go towards all forms of cancer research and patient support.
Brian van Zyl, CEO of the Sharks said: ‘The Sharks have committed to doing all we can to support those living with cancer as well as to bring about further awareness for the Cancer Association of South Africa.’
‘In the past we have supported CANSA through their Shavathon campaign and more recently the Coast 2 Coast 4 CANSA expedition.’
The Sharks will also stage other events for the club’s partnership with CANSA - the Sharks Ladies Breakfast is coming up on 29th September which will provide a platform for CANSA to promote awareness about women’s cancers.
9th October sees the inaugural CANSA Relay For Life Rally which will take place at The Absa Stadium Durban.
