Pakistan tour still on says CSA

Pakistan tour still on says CSA- 7 Sep 2010 00:00:00

Cricket South Africa has reiterated that the national cricket team’s upcoming series against Pakistan, to be held in the United Arab Emirates, is still on despite the ongoing betting scandal engulfing the opposition.

CSA has received numerous queries regarding the status of the Proteas’ upcoming tour to the United Arab Emirates to play Pakistan but CEO Gerald Majola said: ‘The tour of Pakistan is part of the ICC Future Tours’ programme, which we have to honour, unless instructed otherwise by the International Cricket Council (ICC). As such, the tour will go ahead as planned.

‘We will not comment on the scandal itself, as we don't want to compromise any processes currently in place to deal with this matter.’

Three Pakistan players are being investigated by the ICC over allegations of spot-fixing during the recent Test series against England.

The scandal is the latest setback to Pakistan cricket with the country having been forced to play their home series in other nations following a terrorist attack against the Sri Lankan team last year.
