Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) and sports marketing group Sail have announced a five-year commercial agreement for the collective rights of Gauteng venues, Soccer City, Orlando Stadium, Dobsonville Stadium and Rand Stadium.

The partnership will not only increase the exposure of the brands involved, but should also lead to an increase in income through advertising, sponsorships and gate sales.

Managing all four stadiums, SMSA has managed 44 large events in 2009, 92 in 2010 and 96 events in 2011.

Through the deal, Sail will have exclusivity of all commercial rights including suite sales, advertising, rights and sponsorships, event hospitality and all leases and rental streams at the four stadiums.

Sail CEO Justin Sampson, said: ‘We are delighted with our new partnership with Stadium Management SA and are confident that this exclusive alliance will take the stadiums and the fans experience of it, to a new level. Our next step is to analyse the plans currently in place and refine them into a strategy that we believe will help stretch the available assets to their maximum.’

Company CEO, Jacques Grobbelaar added: ‘Soccer City is both iconic and immensely popular across the globe thanks to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, whilst the 2010 Super 14 semi-finals and final put Orlando Stadium on the map.’

‘We need to build on those successes and utilise these magnificent stadiums to their full potential. We have been working with SAIL for some time now and feel assured that they will provide us with an unrivaled vehicle with which to reach millions of fans.’
