Marussia F1 misses final pre-season test

Marussia F1 misses final pre-season test- 28 Feb 2012 00:00:00

The Marussia F1 team is set to miss the final pre-season test in Barcelona because their new car has failed a mandatory crash test, which could see the former Virgin Racing team turn up in Melbourne for the first race of the 2012 season with an untried car.

The new MR01 car failed the 18th and final crash test, having passed the previous 17, but cars must pass every test in order to be approved for racing.

Final testing starts on Thursday and ends on Sunday 4th March.

Only Marussia and HRT have yet to present their new cars. HRT said that their car had finally passed the crash tests but they have not said whether they will test.
