Maximuscle signs England captain- 25 May 2012 00:00:00

Sports nutrition brand, Maximuscle, has agreed a sponsorship deal with England and Harlequins captain Chris Robshaw.

Part of the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) owned Maxinutrition group, Maximuscle will provide Robshaw with tailored nutritional support to complement his career as a professional rugby player during the on and off season for the next two-and-a-half years.

He was named player of the season for the 2011/2012 campaign; a season in which he was also named captain of England and led Harlequins to Twickenham for the Aviva Premiership Final.

Discussing the new partnership with Maximuscle the England captain said: ‘It’s been such an incredible year for me but I really believe I have more to offer. I’ve worked hard to get myself into this position and now I feel it is time to capitalise and develop my game. My nutrition plan will be paramount to allow me to achieve my goals and for that reason I am incredibly excited to be working with Maximuscle, the leaders in this field.’

Maximuscle’s current portfolio of elite athletes and professional sports teams includes the Rugby Football Union, the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Welsh Rugby Union, Everton Football Club, London Wasps and Northampton Saints, as well as individuals such as Courtney Lawes, Ugo Monye, Amir Khan, Stuart Broad, and Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo.

Senior sponsorship manager for Maximuscle, Mark Morgan, added: ‘Although Chris is relatively new to International rugby, he has made a significant contribution in his first year within the England team. Chris is currently one of the most exciting and top performing players in the domestic game and we are delighted to be able to work with him moving forward in what promises to be an extremely successful career.’

‘Professional rugby players put their bodies through intense physical stress both in training and competition. In order to continue to compete at the highest levels Chris will need to have the best forms of recovery available.’

‘Maximuscle will draw upon its expertise within recovery and rugby to focus its efforts on helping him to optimise his performance throughout the summer tour, moving forward into next season and beyond.’
