Willowton Group extends Cricket SA partnership- 31 Jul 2012 00:00:00
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced that Willowton Group has extended its sponsorship of home Test matches played by the country’s national team for a further four years.
Through its Sunfoil cooking oil brand, the Group will continue to support the Proteas’ home ties, whilst also sponsoring South Africa’s domestic four-day competition.
The Test sponsorship will cover a total of 18 matches against New Zealand, Pakistan, India, Australia, the West Indies and England, building on the commitment the company has previously shown as a supporter of Test matches and one-day internationals during the past season.
CSA acting chief executive Jacques Faul said: ‘It is a well known fact that the Willowton Group is heavily committed to South African cricket at grassroots level via their support for development programmes both in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng as well as being title sponsors of the Sunfoil Dolphins franchise. They are thus now involved in all levels of our cricket right up to the pinnacle of Test match cricket.’
Shoaib Moosa, sales and marketing director for the Willowton Group, added: ‘We believe there is a great synergy between the sport of cricket and our business and being involved with the CSA and Proteas’ brand has had some remarkable results for Sunfoil. It has really helped propel the Brand onto a national stage and generate the awareness we required to get into the hearts and minds of the South African public.’
‘We have decided to continue the sponsorship for the next four years, a partnership that commenced last year and as a proudly South African company we are supporting the Proteas’ cricket team all the way, as we believe together we can achieve all our goals.’
For the past 17 years, South Africa’s domestic four-day competition has been sponsored by SuperSport, which will shift its support of CSA to the role of broadcast partner.
